How To Make Your Product The Ferrari Of Indoor Playground Equipment

A child's birthday celebration is an event like no other. It is a day of pure joy and anticipation. The date is counted down to nearly the whole year, and each child gets to feel important in their special day. But behind the scenes may be a lot of worry and stress about the part of parents. Who to invite, where to host it, indoor playground equipment what to feed the kids: all have to be decided on. To eliminate. Save a few of this strain ; why not plan a birthday celebration at Kids Fun City?
Decide on Amounts
The most important part of planning for a birthday party would be to decide on the number of kids will be invited. This amount can vary from just a select few friends to an entire class. There's no right answer to how many people should be in a birthday celebration; it's totally your decision. 1 important part about numbers is to set an RSVP deadline. Even in the event that you invite 10 children, it does not mean that 10 kids will show up. Additionally, be prepared to need to follow up on your own. Nowadays, an RSVP deadline doesn't mean as much as it used to.
If your birthday party at Kids Fun City will have around 10 children, then a fantastic choice is your semi-private party. You get your own room to celebrate in, then get to combine other children for the appeals. If, however, you have a large guest list, then a private party may be the most suitable choice. Here, you actually get the usage of the full facility, all by yourself.
Decide in Time
Plan just how much time you want the birthday party to last for. Again, there is no right answer to this and will depend on your personal circumstances. If you have smaller children, nap times may need to be factored into it. Try to know if nearly all the kids coming to the birthday party will have extra curricular activities they need to get to.
For a birthday party at Kids Fun City, you can choose between a two hour choice, or a three hour choice. Both the time choices are offered for either semi-private parties or private parties.
Decide on Food
Obviously, there'll be birthday cake. But aim for plenty of snack foods and try to sneak into some healthy alternatives. You'll have use of a private room to establish the food and you don't need to worry about feeding your birthday child their favorite foods.

Indoor Playground: Do You Really Need It? This Will Help You Decide!

If you live in an area like we do in Western New York (we're in Rochester!) With superbly hot summers and cold snowy winters, you will know that your options for your kid's birthday party are largely dependent on the weather.
As an August baby, we constantly had small family parties out at my house. However, together with sons born in November and March, we are always left to book an indoor venue for their parties, if we chose to have them that season. While those with children with summer birthdays might appear blessed to have numerous options at their disposal, it can also often feel overwhelming.
While at Climbing Vines Cafe and Play we might be biased since we host indoor parties, I wanted to discuss with you the 5 most common reasons we hear from past celebration clients to reserve indoor summer birthdays with us. To them, the stress-free temperament of the indoor summertime party is a no-brainer, plus they're not looking back! Following their first indoor summer party, they continue hosting with us year after year.

The most common cause for a client to reserve a summer indoor celebration with us is they don't have to stalk the weather forecast for updates in the weeks leading up to the party. Nothing can derail a pleasure party quicker than having to cram all of your guests inside your house, waiting for a storm to pass. And if you've ever needed to cancel or postpone your child's birthday due to weather, then you know how heartbreaking that can be.
We get dozens of calls every summer a couple of days before someone's outdoor party is supposed to take place to see if we've got an open slot for them in our indoor celebration venue due to weather woes. We can usually pull off this if the spot is open, but hosts will sadly need to starve and allow all their guests know of the change in place and probably change in time, and also change all of their catering orders to accommodate their new party plan.
While of course rain is likely the largest obstacle you might face, intense heat, unseasonably cool weather, and end may also pose issues for your decorations, food, along with your guests' belongings. You will probably end up investing in a kayak or some other weather barrier simply to ease your mind a bit, which are costly and take lots of precious time to set up and take down. I won't even tell the story of the time my Dad put a tent up for a celebration in a windstorm and wound up with a insurance claim for 4 ruined cars when it blew away (weights and anchors and all!) ...

Aside from the obvious weather worries you can avoid with an indoor party, there may also just be something so straightforward and lovely about an indoor arcade game; https://www.twitarcade.com, summer party. Guests will not need to be worried about bringing towels and sunscreen and sunglasses and swimsuits and changes of clothing and bug spray... you get the picture.
Sometimes it's wonderful to take a short break in the outdoors, sip coffee in an air-conditioned cafe, and have an actual conversation with other adults while the children play, instead of chasing children around attempting to receive their fur on them keeping them away from the in-ground pool. I am not sure about you, but I can never quite relax at an outdoor summer birthday party with a 2 and a 4 year old. While they sure do have a fantastic time running around, we usually leave at a daze or using a tantrum, unsure whether we even had time to talk or check in with everybody.
While I absolutely adore a fantastic barbecue or summertime grilling extravaganza, I find it so refreshing when we could take a rest from the same-old backyard celebration and spend a few hours at a relaxing, cool, and most importantly-- included! -- atmosphere.
It is also freeing as a guest to have the rest of the day to do as we wish as a family and not have to be concerned about getting the kids into a tub immediately after the party or stopping home to cool off and change clothes.
I guarantee that if you book an indoor celebration for your child, guests (especially family) may seem a little confused at first (why not just take advantage of the summer weather while we could, right?) But after hosting countless indoor parties I will tell you for sure that on the day-of, you and your visitors will realize how nice it can be to reunite in an air-conditioned private celebration for a couple hours.

3) EATING IN PEACE

Speaking of how relaxing an indoor, air-conditioned celebration could be, can we talk about food for a second? Not only are food choices limited with an outdoor party due to heat, but it can be hard to keep food covered and keep the bugs, bees, and other debris away.
Therefore, for our loved ones, the food factor alone would be enough to justify an indoor party.
Eating in peace without having to find colour or a chair or a place away from bugs is one of those things that you do not realize can be so glorious until you attend your fourth or fifth outdoor summer gathering and after that get a break from them. Among the most common things we hear is how nice it's to sit and eat and see the kiddos play without having any other venue-related cares or concerns. This will be particularly important if you are going to be having elderly family members attend who will battle with being mobile in the sand or marijuana and finding seating at outdoor parties.
Plus, when was the last time you attended an outdoor summer celebration with a full espresso bar and cafe available for guests to enjoy now they don't need to be concerned about running around chasing their children in the heat? Don't worry, we have you covered there, literally!

4) DECOR OPTIONS GALORE

While party aesthetic might not be a deciding factor for each and every family, it sure is much simpler to make a themed extravaganza that lighting a child's face up as soon as the party's inside. The decorations required tend to be less because the area is smaller and included contained, and you won't need to be concerned about balloons and streamers blowing all about or securing table covers down.
Since we do host cellular events outdoors in Climbing Vines Cafe and Play, I will also speak from experience when I say the time that it takes to install (and take down!) Decorations for an outdoor celebration compared to a indoor party usually ends up being double. Finding good places to hang banner, needing two people to hold and protect everything, and locating weights or other restraints for everything may be a genuine hassle on party day.
And you will have enough to worry about that day, right?
Also, if your own pinterest planks are full of cute centerpieces, a candy bar, or anything that may be impacted by wind (or bring bees!) You will probably have to restrategize for an outdoor soiree.
And of course decor typically can only get used once if used outside, but repurposed again and again if used for an indoor event. Our guests who host indoor events, notably those who invested significant money into decor or labored hard to make their very own, are very happy to find they can usually create a large chunk of the money back by reselling their supplies on something like Facebook Marketplace.
5) YOU MAY ACTUALLY SAVE MONEY
Speaking of cash, probably the greatest misconception I hear from clients is they wish to sponsor a party in their home to save the leasing fee of an indoor area. I usually laugh at this because it makes perfect sense, that is, if you have never hosted an outside celebration.
With all of the"extras" such as tents, chair rentals, additional decorations, weather reinforcements, clean-up supplies, games and activities for the kids (that you won't need to supply at a play area!) It is very likely that you will end up spending MUCH more hosting a party at your house or an outdoor venue than you would inside.
I'm not sure how other indoor spaces manage their supplies, but we only charge guests for extra drinks and supplies and such on the day of the celebration if they wind up needing them, and we also allow parties to bring in their OWN food, dessert, and decor if they choose!
Money aside, spending countless hours cleaning before, during, and following the celebration can also have a toll. Wouldn't it be nice to walk into a sparkling clean space and depart with your guests when the party's over, not having to be concerned about the clean-up, garbage removal, tent teardown, etc?
You can just head home and unwind with your loved ones (yes, maybe outside!) In a nice clean house that wasn't just trampled by party guests and all of their sand, grass, and sunscreen.
In addition to the time spent cleaning prior to and after the party, would not it ALSO be wonderful to not need to play"host" throughout the event? Even for customers that make their own food and decor, our committed party assistants set up everything, refill and mend food and beverages as necessary, clear plates, cut and serve the cake, and pack up all of the leftovers in the end of the celebration!
After all, it is your child's special day and you wish to spend those precious hours making memories and seeing along with your guests-- not running about chasing your decorations or refilling the fruit bowl countless times.
So save everybody (and especially your own family!) Lots of anxiety, time, and stress by booking your event with us summer time. We would be honored to provide you with an easy, enjoyable experience that will leave your entire guest list feeling joyful, thankful, and full of love after spending a relaxing (yet fun-filled!) day together.

How To Make Your Indoor Playground Look Like A Million Bucks

That is a question that I get asked quite frequently when I tell folks that I have a play café. "Is that like an indoor play gym with slides and rock climbing structures and trampolines?" I guess that is what happens if you introduce a totally new idea to your city.
Indoor playgrounds have been around for a little while, and there are many of them in our city of Burlington and neighbouring cities of Oakville and Hamilton. They are the places that you take your children to when they want to burn off their energy when it is too cold out to go to the playground, or whenever you do not want them to tear your house apart. They are the places where your kids can run around through mazes, climb ropes, slide down slides and let out all the crazy!
It was really at an indoor playground that the idea of Chickadee Family Cafe was born within my mind. I'd taken my afterward two-and-a-half year old into a popular indoor play area within our hometown Burlington and strove to keep up with him as he raced down slides and throughout mazes. I crouched into miniature corners pursuing my little man around and came out utterly exhausted (go ahead, insert jokes about how out of shape I'm here).
As soon as I arose in the play structures, I looked at the other parents. Many were standing around trying to keep a visual on their kids' whereabouts. Some were calling their kids' titles, trusting that they were not stuck in a maze...'cause c am on, we all know no adult wants to need to climb all of the way up those structures to retrieve a crying kid. Mostly, they looked exhausted and tired. Maybe their children awakened at 6am too.
Do not get me wrong, there was lots of laughter and giggles. I had fun with my son, that had been the major purpose of going to the indoor playground, but at a place full of other moms and dads around my age with kids around my son's age, there was a massive opportunity for building relationship with my community that I felt was completely overlooked. As a new resident of Burlington I wished to connect with other parents. But the air did not really lend itself to having a real conversation.
I started to research what else was out there to get a few superior mother -- son time which didn't need me to crawl on my hands and knees and squeeze my buttocks through a tunnel match for a toddler. I discovered play cafes. Play cafes are relatively new to Canada, but are around the united kingdom, Australia and the US for years. A drama café blends the requirements of both parents and children, fueling parents with carbonated drinks while providing ample play space for kids to explore and have fun.
Play cafes accept the community-focused way of a café and include a play area for kids. At Chickadee Family Café, we provide that coffee shop atmosphere which you are utilized to sipping your latte in as well as a fun child-friendly environment filled with creative and toys based drama actions. When the play space is closed and the kiddos are in bed, our space can easily transform in an evening assembly area for parent workshops, a couples' date night or a meeting place for mompreneurs.
While most indoor playground equipment playgrounds either don't provide food or function up fast food options or vending machine snacks, a play café is a full sized café with espresso based drinks along with a hearty menu of healthy snacks and lunch items.
A drama café is a bridge between a historical years' center and your regional trendy café. Most play cafes offer parent and child classes and parenting supports through workshops and support groups, many things you can anticipate in Chickadee Family Café.
I hope that helped to explain the difference between an indoor playground and a play café. We can not wait to open our doors and invite you to experience the difference for yourself.

Indoor Playground Business? It's Easy If You Do It Smart

In a previous blog post, I discussed the 7 items I no longer do in my indoor playground (www.twitarcade.com) company as I have grown and matured as a business proprietor.
I chased Michael Hyatt, that, in many of his novels and programs always describes designing your ideal days and weeks as"the appetite zone." Running inside your desire zone, as he describes it, simply means you are spending the majority of your time doing what you love AND are good at.
When there are many tasks I cut completely and a few I delegate to better-suited team members, there are several responsibilities that still lie within my"desire zone," and that I feel are important for me to handle personally. Even though this is continually changing as my priorities (both professionally and personally) evolve, these are just 5 of the jobs that I'm not giving up only yet as a business proprietor.

At Climbing Vines Cafe and Play, we have picked our unique personal birthday parties as the main attention of our small business .
Due to this focus, I've chosen to plan the principal facets of each celebration we sponsor. When someone publications their occasion with us, they receive a comprehensive confirmation that includes my contact info and mentions that I'm in touch as their event draws near.
While I don't normally take care of the execution of our parties, I do act as the main touchpoint for parents and collect all of their information and tastes. Ten days before each celebration, I send a personalized party"questionnaire" which includes all of the details we've gathered up to that point, provides additional day-of information, and inquires about last-minute details.
I answer all queries the host might have in response to that email and-- following some back-and-forth communication-- I list all of their event info on what we call a"party prep sheet" Because we have up to 6 comprehensive events in one weekend, this organization is indispensable!
The party-prep sheet is a very detailed document that makes it possible for our party hosts to execute the event to the specific specifications of their parents, leaving no stone unturned. This has enabled me to have most weekends free yet still feel confident we're delivering an above-and-beyond birthday celebration experience.
After the celebration, we deliver a questionnaire to every hosting family. If they have opinions, whether it be positive or negative, I follow up . This closes the loop clients' experience and makes certain they know I truly care for their child's special day. This process has resulted in a significant number of repeat bookings and consistent referrals from past parties.
Not merely is planning these celebrations something I excel in, but I also take great pleasure in it. Event planning is the way I got into the business in the first place, so I am more than pleased to have this endeavor. If I'm ever feeling overwhelmed with all the facts, I know I've amazing team members that I can lean on.

Speaking of our amazing team members, another job I choose to get a hand in is our hiring and firing procedure. While I do leave the final conclusion to our cafe manager, I prefer to write the project posts and descriptions and filter through resumes and applications before bringing anyone in for a meeting.
Having spent several years shooting and hiring my fair share of workers, it's easy for me to spot red-flags on software and also find"diamonds in the rough" Since we have most of our normal operating procedures documented and optimized, I prefer to hire based on character and excitement rather than experience.
I also make sure I personally welcome every worker to our staff and touch base with them frequently to check in and collect feedback from them.

3) DREAM UP NEW INITIATIVES

Since I no longer spend time doing those 7 items (and more!) , my time and energy are freed up to research what our perfect clients want and need and figure out a way to incorporate that in our business model.
For instance, I noticed that our birthday party bookings were slowing down in the summertime. When I asked a few customers, they said that they DID love our occasions and attention-to-detail but preferred a Summer celebration to be out at their residence (since most have backyards and pools). We then began offering cellular events, where we would bring food, decorations, and activities for your kids to their houses, and it was a hit!
Another example is our occasions . We're always adding fun new events that enable customers, especially working parents with limited weekday accessibility, to visit us out of hours and receive an enhanced experience throughout the subject of the event, class, or activity.
If I had been I still doing EVERY task in my enterprise, I wouldn't have nearly enough time to do as much innovation or research.

4) CONNECT WITH CUSTOMERS

If it comes to knowing how to innovate and what to provide, it all starts with forging a real connection with customers.
It's because of this that I really like interacting with our customers all time (when I can) and on social networking. I choose to work celebrations, events, as well as open-play when my family's schedule allows it so that I can stay active and aware of what's occurring during the day. It also gives me the chance to observe how customers are using our distance first-hand and listen to any concerns or questions they have. Although at this age of technology there are testimonials, types, and surveys, I have discovered that NOTHING can replace using a face-to-face conversation with clients using your distance (and likely visits competitors too!)
It's for this reason you will also see billionaire CEOs seeing retail locations on a regular basis. Howard Schultz, the former CEO of Starbucks, was renowned for seeing hundreds of stores across the nation each year, spending time with the clients who had been spending their cash on his merchandise.
I love being a family owned and operated company, and that I love for my customers to understand that I am completely invested in their happiness.

While I no longer do one-on-one consulting for individuals hoping to start out indoor playgrounds, I really do spend a substantial quantity of time producing absolutely free content for them on my blog and over on YouTube. In addition, I have an absolutely free, 44-page eBook to get play-cafe-owning hopefuls that they can download right on our website or by clicking here.
If someone consumes that free information and decides they still would like to move forward with their plans, I have an internet program named Play Cafe Academy where I assist entrepreneurs get from daydream to opening-day in significantly less time and less strain than they ever thought possible.
When I was studying this company model, there wasn't a lot of info out there. Recent owners really keep all of their business secrets near their vest, and I do not blame them! Even if you charge a consulting fee, you're still sort of giving away the keys that you have worked so hard for and it is very easy as a company owner to get a little smug and protective of your research and development.
As it came time to open my own business, I ended up making a ton of errors (and I suggest a TON of mistakes) since I simply did not know any better. So when I started getting emails and calls to consult for additional possible play cafe owners, then I couldn't keep all this info to myself. While it's easy for me to feel like an imposter or there are other small business owners more qualified than me to share this information, I know that there is a 4-years-ago me sitting at work somewhere waiting for the next concept to jump out in them.
And frankly, I don't need to see one more business close because someone who's walked before them did not share any info! Why not share it myself?!
But my time is precious. I've got two little children and also run another business... I do not have 12 hours to spend hand-holding each perspective owner through the process. (And allow me to tell you, it will take at least 12 to 24 hours of paid one-on-one consulting to even break the surface of what you require, such as documentation.) In the average rate of $100 to $200 an hour to actually consultwith imagine what you might wind up paying for only a sign of education!
PCA is broken down into eight modules at which I pay everything from writing your business plan to choosing a location and signing the right lease to organizing your flows of revenue and much, much more. Students can go through these modules in their own speed, and I don't need to spend the time to walk my pupils throughout the program.
This allows me to help other entrepreneurs in their course while also reserving time and energy I need for my family and other commitments.
Overall, this business model may actually be whatever the owner wants it to be. I understand many owners that choose to do all the items inside their business, and it works for them because we all have different"desire zones."
I feel really lucky that I have heard over the years what my strengths (and weaknesses!) Are and can design my"perfect" weeks so. If I was burning the candle on both ends trying to handle everything , I would be doing myself, my family, and my customers a major disservice.
